Accomplishments and Goals

Major Accomplishments in 2015

Whether your college or school has a national, regional or local focus, the Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools can benefit you. Here’s what we achieved on your behalf in 2015:

Held 20 legislative visits and campus tours on the campuses of member institutions to educate Ohio legislators about career colleges and schools.
Conducted numerous workshop sessions to help members recruit and retain students, manage their operations, and improve faculty professionalism.
Offered more than $1 million in tuition assistance to high school seniors through the Legislative Scholarship Program (now called OhioLEADS!).
Persuaded legislators to increase OCOG funding for students attending career colleges and schools, raising the average grant from $750 per student per year to $888 per year.
Helped OACCS members, students and alumni testify on behalf of career colleges and schools at Ohio House and Senate legislative hearings.
Awarded more than 30 Workforce Tuition Scholarships to students enrolled in OACCS member colleges and schools, totaling almost $50,000.
Represented career colleges and schools at meetings of the Governor’s Executive Workforce Board and the State Board of Career Colleges and Schools.
Improved our website with more robust and interactive features to make it easier to register for workshops and put useful information at your fingertips.
Since our school doesn’t accept Title IV federal financial aid, a large number of our students depend on the workforce investment system to get training. OACCS helps us educate policy makers on the occupations in demand as well as the skills needed for people to find meaningful employment.
